Track period-close status with Sage Copilot Close Assistant in Sage Intacct
What the source describes
Sage Intacct's help documentation explains that Close Assistant, part of Sage Intacct Close Automation, shows which applications are closed and which tasks need attention in the Sage Copilot panel. You open Copilot, select Run Close Assistant, pick the reporting period, and it lists tasks such as reviewing unposted bills and invoices, preparing AP and AR reconciliations, reviewing bank reconciliations, reviewing unposted journal entries and running variance analysis, with links to close each subledger and the general ledger.
Result or outcome
According to the source, Close Assistant gives a single overview of period-close activity across AP, AR, Cash Management and General Ledger, with refresh buttons to update each subledger's status and links that open the related close pages.
How to run it
- Confirm your company subscribes to Sage Intacct Close Automation, your user has the Close assistant Run permission, and enhanced lists are turned on.
- On any Sage Intacct page, select the Copilot icon in the top title bar, choose Insight, then select Run Close Assistant.
- Choose the reporting period you are closing, then review alert icons for unposted bills, invoices and journal entries, reconciliations and variance analysis.
- Copy the module status into the prompt on this page to build a prioritized close order and owner notes for each open item.
- Clear each task through its link, refresh each subledger's status, and use the Close links to close AP, AR, Cash Management and General Ledger.

Copyable prompt
I am closing [month and year] for [company name]. Below is the status of each module: unposted bills, unposted invoices, AP and AR subledger to GL differences, bank reconciliations completed or pending by account, and unposted journal entries. Build me a prioritized close-status summary with: what blocks closing each subledger, the order I should close AP, AR, cash and the general ledger, and a short note for each open item saying who should resolve it and what evidence to attach. End with a yes or no on whether the GL is ready to close and why. [paste module status]
Replace the [bracketed] placeholders. Remove client names, account numbers, and personal data before pasting into any AI tool.
What to review
Open each unposted link before closing, since Sage says unposted can include drafts and transactions waiting for or partly through approval. In multi-entity companies an alert can mean one entity is still open, so check the Close books overview by entity. Confirm the prompt's ready-to-close answer against a refreshed Close Assistant panel, not an older status you pasted.

Run pre-close quality checks with Digits Automated Quality Control
Digits' help center describes Automated Quality Control, which runs checks continuously on the books and surfaces anything that may need review as action items in the Checklist before close. Standard checks are on by default, advanced checks can be enabled, and most checks can be customized with plain English instructions that Digits turns into the logic it runs. Digits' own example checks flag equity balances that change sharply over three months and expense transactions above 1% of annualized total expenses.

Auto-draft month-end flux explanations with Numeric and Claude
Numeric documents an MCP use case where Claude loops through every pending flux task assigned to you, pulls six months of transaction lines per account, groups them by dimensions such as vendor, customer, department, class and location, and drafts conclusion-first variance explanations. Each draft leads with the total variance and primary driver, followed by supporting bullets with dollar breakdowns. Claude drafts and can post the explanation, but does not submit the task; you review and submit.

Reconcile general ledger detail to the trial balance with an Excel AI agent
A Journal of Accountancy article by two University of Akron accounting professors shows how they built an agent in ChatGPT for Excel, with a custom skill, to clean messy general ledger data and reconcile it to the trial balance. The skill makes the agent work from a copy, inspect before acting, present a plan for approval, use native Excel formulas, log every change, and aggregate the cleaned ledger by account to flag non-zero differences against the trial balance. The authors stress human validation, including formula tracing and spot checks.

Accrue unsynced card spend at month-end with Ramp's Accounting Agent
Ramp's launch post for its Accounting Agent says it codes every line item, reviews every transaction, and flags anything needing judgment, with routine low-risk spend auto-syncing to the accounting system. At month-end, Ramp accrues transactions that are not ready to sync so spend lands in the right period, reverses the accrual the next month, and reconciles with the ERP, flagging missing, duplicate or mismatched transactions. Corrections can be given once in plain language and the agent learns from them.
